This genuine Nissan side oil seal is fitted where the axle shaft (side flange) enters the differential housing. Its purpose is to retain differential oil while preventing dirt, dust and moisture from entering the differential. Over time, the seal can harden, shrink or wear, resulting in oil leaks around the axle flange. Replacing it with a genuine Nissan seal restores a reliable factory seal and helps protect the differential bearings and gears from premature wear. 38342-N3100 supersedes the earlier part number 38342-P9000.
